I don’t write much poetry, but this\u00a0came to me while sweeping the floor…<\/p>\n
A Mother’s Home<\/p>\n
My house is clean enough; I don’t think you’ll get sick
\nIf your cookie falls to the floor and\u00a0you pick it up real quick.<\/p>\n
But don’t open any closet doors! Don’t look in any dresser drawers!
\nDon’t judge me by the laundry that is piled\u00a0upon the floors.
\nDon’t check for dishes in the sink, don’t look under any beds!
\nIgnore the dust on the piano, and all the clutter–instead–<\/p>\n
See the toys upon the floor, the library books dropped by the door;
\nthe crayon drawings on the wall, the crooked pictures in the hall;
\nHear the children as they play with sidewalk\u00a0chalk on a summer’s day;
\nand see the glitter and the glue on cut-out hearts that say, “I love you.”<\/p>\n
